The Organizations Behind the Hub
The Pork Research Hub is made possible through the collaboration of four partner organizations, each with a distinct mandate and deep roots in Canada's swine research community.
Together, they form a cross-Canada network of expertise spanning animal health, genetics, nutrition, welfare, sustainability, economics and production management. While many organizations contribute to advancing Canada's pork sector, this partnership brings together complementary strengths to improve coordination, broaden access to research, and support informed decision-making across the country.
This partnership reflects a shared conviction: that aligned efforts and open knowledge make the entire sector stronger, more competitive and better equipped for the future.
Swine Innovation Porc (SIP)
www.swineinnovationporc.ca Swine Innovation Porc is a national organization that coordinates and funds collaborative research under the Swine Cluster program — the most significant coordinated research investment in Canadian pork. SIP brings together producers, researchers, academia and government to fund work across animal health, genetics, nutrition, sustainability and more. As a founding Hub partner, SIP contributes research outcomes and feature stories from its national programs.
Prairie Swine Centre (PSC)
www.prairieswine.com Prairie Swine Centre is a not-for-profit applied research organization based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with more than three decades of experience translating science into practical on-farm solutions. Their expertise spans barn design, pig behaviour and welfare, nutrition, production management and environmental stewardship. Through the Hub, PSC shares research summaries and technical resources that bring Western Canadian perspectives to a national audience.
Centre de développement du porc du Québec (CDPQ)
www.cdpq.ca CDPQ is a research and knowledge transfer organization serving Quebec's swine industry, with close ties to producers, universities and provincial partners. Its work spans a broad range of areas including nutrition, genetics, animal health, welfare, housing and management, environmental sustainability and precision livestock farming. CDPQ also plays a key role in knowledge transfer, supporting the adoption of best practices through applied research, technical services and industry collaboration. Through the hub CDPQ contributes bilingual resources ensuring that innovations developed in Quebec are shared with the broader Canadian research community.
Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement (CCSI)
www.ccsi.ca The Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement is a national organization established in 1994, dedicated to the genetic improvement of Canadian pigs. CCSI coordinates national genetic evaluation programs and supports performance data collection across the country, bringing deep expertise in data standards, information technology, genetics and genomics to help shape the next generation of precision livestock management. Through the Hub, CCSI brings a national genetics perspective and practical resources to help producers understand how genetic improvement drives competitiveness across the pork sector.
